Kansas City North Veterinary Hospital Offers Chiropractic, Holistic and Acupuncture Services

Pets can often benefit from care that goes beyond traditional veterinary medicine, and that alternative veterinary care is available at the Kansas City North Animal Hospital of Boardwalk Square. Our veterinary hospital is owned by Dr. Billie Deam, who has knowledge and experience in traditional veterinary hospital medicine as well as alternative veterinary care that includes animal chiropractic.  Additionally, pet acupuncture services are available at our clinic and are provided by Dr. Linda Faris. Our Kansas City North veterinarian Dr. Deam is a graduate of Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine and an animal chiropractor certified by the International Veterinary Chiropractic Association.

Kansas City North Holistic Pet Care

Holistic Animal Care Complements Traditional Veterinary Medicine at Kansas City North Veterinary Hospital

Veterinarian alternative animal care is simply care that extends beyond the traditional to promote and maintain the total well-being of animals. Dr. Deam has successfully used her holistic approach with animal chiropractics, which focus on the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

Animal chiropractic care uses neither drugs nor surgery but instead restores and maintains optimum health by ensuring an animal’s neuromusculoskeletal system is functioning properly. The neuromusculoskeletal system is responsible for proper biomechanics, or body movements, that pertain to the bones, muscles and nerves and the relationship among them. Chiropractic care does not replace traditional veterinary methods but is instead used in conjunction with them as an additional method to diagnose and treat a number of conditions.

Our veterinary hospital can use chiropractic techniques to treat chronic and acute pain syndromes, acute tension and stiffness, ongoing musculoskeletal issues, chronic lameness, tendon and ligament problems, particularly in horses and dogs. Chiropractic care also serves as preventative treatment for optimum fitness and performance. Kansas City North Veterinarian Dr. Deam can make house calls for her equine chiropractic services, treating horses at their own barn.

Kansas City North Pet Acupuncture

Pet acupuncture services are another of the holistic services that we offer at our clinic. Dr. Linda Faris is trained in this holistic pet care method and provides the service to our Kansas City pet patients. Used as a veterinary practice in China for more than 3,000 years, acupuncture consists of inserting needles into very specific points along the animal’s body to promote healing. The theory behind acupuncture is that the body’s energy is off-balance and can be restored to its balance through the use of needles.

Like other chiropractic care, acupuncture is all-natural, not relying on drugs or surgery to help heal an ailment. Also like chiropractic care, acupuncture can be used as a preventative treatment to ensure an animal maintains optimum health or to target a specific issue or problem.

Our Kansas City North veterinary clinic can provide acupuncture services to treat arthritis, musculoskeletal issues, allergic dermatitis and other skin problems, select reproductive problems and gastrointestinal problems. Athletic animals can often benefit from acupuncture to treat minor injuries and help them retain top performance levels.

Complete wellness care of animals is the main aim of Kansas City North's Animal Hospital of Boardwalk Square, where we can supplement traditional care with alternative animal treatment for optimum health and fitness for all pets.
