Dog and Cat Surgery Procedures dog and cat surgery

A few of the dog and cat surgery procedures that we perform at our Kansas City North veterinary hospital include spay and neuter procedures, laser surgery, therapeutic laser treatments, cosmetic surgeries, and corrective and exploratory surgery.

Spay and Neuter

Many owners see these procedures as being purely optional, but consider what you and your pet get in the process.  Many "unfixed" animals display aggressive behavior and a tendency to wander.  This puts their lives in danger, and can pose a health risk for you and your family.  In addition to helping control the pet population and reduce the amount of animals euthanized every day, these procedures can improve your pets health and extend their life expectancy.  It is for this reason that our veterinary hospital offers these services to the pet owners of Kansas City.

Laser Surgery and Therapeutic Laser Treatments

Many pets have a number of problems that need laser treatments.  Whether it's arthritis due to old age, or "dead tail disease (limber tail)," many pets show a remarkable improvement with their condition after laser surgery and laser treatments.  This can diminish, if not eliminate, the need to continually prescribe your pet painkillers and anti-inflammatory medications.  If your dog or cat is expressing an unusual level of lethargy or is protective about their hips and other joints, you should schedule a visit with our veterinarian to see if they would benefit from these treatments.

Optional Cosmetic Surgery Procedures: Dog Ear Cropping

At our Kansas City North veterinary hospital, we do offer dog ear cropping which is a surgical procedure commonly to certain types of breeds. Owner of purebred Boxers, Schnauzers, Doberman Pinchers, Pit Bull Terriers, and several other types of terriers will often elect to have this cosmetic surgery for their dog to produce the standard look of the breed. In many cases, if this ear cropping procedure is not done, the dog may not be recognized easily like their counterparts with the procedure. As this is an elective procedure, we encourage you to discuss this surgical option with our veterinarian to determine if this is a good fit for you and your dog. Dog ear cropping is performed around 9 to twelve weeks of age. Please contact our office for more information.

Whatever you and your pets needs are, our Kansas City North veterinarian and staff are experienced and prepared to provide high quality care and service. puppy1.png
